Nearly ready for powdercoat.....

Swing out tire lower pin. Uses oil lite bushings and a oil lite/graphite thrust washer on the lower. Thinking about a rod end for the upper.

Boxed in rear bumper

Limit strap tabs at the base of the shock tower

Tire carrier and cage gusset

Turkey Rover

Put the cage on properly to start with

Finished up the upper link mount

Installed the cargo tray backsides. Had to wait until the body was off so I could finished other welding that this plate blocks

This is the blocked welding

Cage basket mounts for summer when the hardtop is off

Gussets on the rear cage mounts

Not super thrilled about the little tab but it's the best I could do. The body sits fairly close to the tube

Limit strap mounts, again had to finish other welding with the body off before I could mount these

Need to add 1 or 2 gussets to beef these up still

Naked Rover

Finished tacking up the front frame rails. Still need ~10 1.25" pass through tubes but it's getting closer.

Pulled the body off

Cage is just sitting in place

Cage is actually staggered back 2"

Need to gusset the rear cage mounts on the bumper still

Coolant Rez

Not much progress but it's one the last tidbits I needed to finish up before pulling the body to tig up the rest of the frame

Probably add an overflow tank just in case...

Working on a different design for the front upper link. It'll be moved to the passenger side and mount on top of the diff housing. Only issue getting the link long enough. I can squeak out 30" which is about what the lowers are. Trying to make it a little longer to get the pinion to rotate towards the t-case out put at all times... At the end of the day I'm sure I'll be making a compromise in order to get something done.

Bent up the final version of the panhard bar tonight.

Need to center the axle at ride height still..

Notched the upper link tower. Might be able to make the existing tower work! The only issue is if the clevis/rod end have the bolt facing up it hits the upper link joint.. rotated flat it's fine. But I don't think you can really count on it staying in that orientation.

Very minor notch on the other side

Shock clearance

I put this off for a long time but it had to be done.. Tried moving the the lower shock mounts outward to create clearance but could not get enough. So I notched the shock towers to allow the springs to nest when one side was at full bump and the other at full droop

Front Lower Shock Mounts

Moved the lower front mounts foreword .500" and outboard 1.000"

Helps with upper link tower clearance on the other side as well as full droop spring clearance on the shock towers.

Might move the shock out anther .500" but it'll be tight...

Power Steering Rez

Mounted the reservoir to the driver side shock tower. It's above the highest point in the steering system (orbital valve).

Tacked in until I pull the shock and have room to work.

More Sway

Mocked up the rear drop links, they are ~14" eye to eye

Full bump

The space the arm is in is not usable anyway

Full bump/droop drop link is near vertical to minimize side loading on the torsion arms

Near horizontal at full droop
