More rear end

Started TIGing up the rear tower today.

Weld nuts for attaching the towers to the cage for lateral stability

Rear shock towers

I cut out the old shock tower set up which was pretty neat but just wasn't right for what I'm doing.

New rear mount mocked up

The tube is just a place holder. I need to cut down some tubes to weld in

Front end is done!

Well almost, need to finish welding everything up but the design is done with the exception of the panhard mount on the frame side. Currently it's 3/16" HRS and I'm going to switch to 1/4" CRS. Also I'll move the pivot out ~1" and up a touch. The thicker material will withstand rock strikes better. Pivot change will reduce bump steer.

Lowered shock mount 1" for more compression stroke. Just clears the steering arm!!

Ram just clears the 3rd member fasteners. I still don't know if I can pull the 3rd without pulling the ram. I'll find out soon when I rebuild the axle and put in the Dirty 30's.

Ram just clears the link tower.

Spring just clears the link tower and full bump/droop.

Full droop.

Full bump passenger side.

Sitting on the bumps.

Moved the axle back ~.500' to get clearance here!

Panhard mount and rear shock mount rework is next..

Link Tower

New pass through link tower with integrated panhard mount. All .250" CRS.

Internal ribs to stiffen up the portals.

Old mount....

Going to need to hit the outer portal with a burr to get a little more clearance.

Been a while!

Back on the Rova now! Got caught up in some other projects and really just didn't have the motivation to work on it. But I'm back now.

Moving the the front shocks back and up on the chassis. This allows me to move the axle forward another 1.5" allowing me to moving the ram back .750" and the still have .750"
of clearance on the harmonic balancer.

Removed the ribs on the hood so it would close too.

That's a pretty good approach angle!!

The down side is the front axle is so far forward that the iconic Rover fenders have to be cut up a lot!

Once everything is suspension wise is done I'll make new skins for the fenders. Waiting on new link brackets for the front axle, rear upper shock mounts too. Should be done at the laser cutters tomorrow.

Nearly ready for powdercoat.....

Swing out tire lower pin. Uses oil lite bushings and a oil lite/graphite thrust washer on the lower. Thinking about a rod end for the upper.

Turkey Rover

Put the cage on properly to start with

Finished up the upper link mount

Installed the cargo tray backsides. Had to wait until the body was off so I could finished other welding that this plate blocks

This is the blocked welding

Cage basket mounts for summer when the hardtop is off

Gussets on the rear cage mounts

Not super thrilled about the little tab but it's the best I could do. The body sits fairly close to the tube

Limit strap mounts, again had to finish other welding with the body off before I could mount these

Need to add 1 or 2 gussets to beef these up still
