It's done! The front axle is stripped of all excess brackets. What a painful, nasty job. The spring perches are really well attached so it takes a lot of grinding to get them off.
Here are the leftovers

Clean axle ready to mock up again

No more spring perch, shock mount, sway bar mount or steering assist mount.

Back under the rig

Ready for link brackets.

I'm on the hunt for an Fj80 Landcruiser steering box. The behind the axle steering set up is just too cramped. The tie rod would need 8 bends to clear the frame and diff. That's the problem with keeping the rig low. If I lifted it 3-4" this would be easy...

Good news is that Trail-Gear said they would exchange these left hand drive (because they are mounted backwards.. ) arms for a right hand drive set that I can mount normally. With the FJ80 steering box I'll be able to mount the box in the fender (hopefully) out of site and have good clearance for the tie rod. If I need to notch the frame for the tie rod at full stuff it'll be ahead of the last crossmember and shouldn't affect strength at all.
